July is the month devoted to the Precious Blood of Christ.
Poured Out for Our Salvation
Devotion to the Precious Blood of Christ is one of the oldest devotions of the Church. Our Blessed Mother gave us an example in her walking the Sorrowful Way with her Son, Our Lord who was pierced for our salvation. St. Catherine of Siena was a great adorer of the Precious Blood of Christ. She composed a prayer to the Precious Blood of Christ which she was known to pray for sinners.
Precious Blood, Ocean of Divine Mercy, flow upon us! Precious Blood, Most Pure offering, procure us every grace! Precious Blood, Hope and refuge of sinners, atone for us! Precious Blood, Delight of the Holy Souls, draw us! Amen.
Pope St. Clement wrote in his letter around AD 96:
Let us fix our gaze on the Blood of Christ and realize how truly precious It is, seeing that it was poured out for our salvation and brought the grace of conversion to the whole world.
Blessed John XXIII commended this devotion with these words:
Devotion to the Precious Blood is the devotion of our time...It is devotion for all souls, for the whole world
The Blood of Christ is the price of our salvation.

Bishop Burbidge's Letter on Faithful Citizenship
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As our state and nation move towards an important series of elections, I write to encourage you to participate as faithful citizens in the electoral process.
As Americans, we live in a free and pluralistic nation, with its many voices and points of view. As Catholics, we are called upon to make moral choices ever faithful to the Gospel. The upcoming elections will provide our nation an opportunity to exercise these moral choices, especially for the protection of the unborn and all human life. Read more.
This term "ad orientem" refers to what direction the Priest is facing while saying Mass and it is getting much discussion these days as the church reflects upon the command "Let us Turn towards the Lord".
Eternal Trinity, Godhead, mystery deep as the sea, you could give me no greater gift than the gift of yourself. For you are a fire ever burning and never consumed, which itself consumes all the selfish love that fills my being. Yes, you are a fire that takes away the coldness, illuminates the mind with its light, and causes me to know your truth. And I know that you are beauty and wisdom itself. The food of angels, you gave yourself to man in the fire of your love. - Saint Catherine of Siena
