{mosimage} The care of the sick is one of the most important apostolates in our parish. We named this apostolate, the Camillis Ministry, after St. Camillus. This week, Legion of Mary volunteers working under the umbrella of the Camillus Ministry had the joy of helping a patient realize a life long dream of becoming a Catholic. On one of their visits to a nearby care facility, they discovered a young woman who asked about the Catholic Faith. With the help of our new Deacon Brad Watkins, she was prepared for the Rites of Christian Initiation. I am happy to report that on Tuesday, at the morning Mass, she was Baptized, Confirmed and received First Holy Communion. What makes it even more special is that this is the week of her Patron Saint. Welcome into the Catholic Church Monica and may thanks Camillus and Legion of Mary volunteers for letting the parish share in your joy of caring for the sick. |

{mosimage}This past week, because of your generosity to our poor box and the compassionate eye of one of our parishioners, a mom and her two daughters, 10 and 12 years old, were given shelter and settled into their new apartment in Raleigh. A fellow parishioner, who works for the City of Raleigh, came upon a mom who was homeless with two daughters. She had spent one night in the shelter in Raleigh after fleeing another state because of domestic violence. The hoped for invitation to live with her relatives in Raleigh unfortunately was met with a refusal by those relatives who were also struggling in this tough economy. This sent the mom and her daughters to the only option, the homeless shelter. Due to the compassionate eye and caring heart of a parishioner, he started putting resources together. He contacted St. Catherine's and shared her story. In a matter of hours on Monday, we were able to partner with a landlord in Raleigh, secure an apartment, complete a background check, to authentic the story, and get this mom and her daughters into an apartment by the next day. Fortunately, through the generosity of other parishioners who heard of the story, the mom was able to get them some furniture and help fill the cabinets with food. The girls were all settled and ready for school this week and the mom is out searching for employment. It doesn't always work out this easily when we try to help those in need, but every now and then, it all comes together and real lives are affected. It all starts when we simply dispose our selves to God's work and keep an eye out for the other! Thanks to all those who pitched in an made a difference! |

She will be joined by Dr. Ray Guarendi, a nationally-known child psychologist and author and Dr. Dan Guernsey, Headmaster of the Donahue Academy, a classical Catholic school in Ave Maria, Florida. {mosimage}On June 30th, 2010, The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge appointed Reverend Walter Ospina-Briceno as Parochial Vicar of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Wake Forest. Fr. Ospina, a Priest of the Diocese of Raleigh was ordained in 2002 and has served as Parochial Vicar at St. Michael's in Cary and St. Therese in Wilson and as Pastor of St. Therese in Wrightsville Beach and in Red Springs, NC. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French and brings the a wealth of pastoral experience to our growing parish. |

{mosimage}On June 26th, 2010, The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge appointed Reverend Deacon Brad Watkins as Permanent Deacon at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Wake Forest. Deacon Watkins has faithfully served in the diocese as a teacher at Cardinal Gibbons High School, as the Secretary to Bishop Burbidge and as the Assistant Director of Vocations for the Diocese. He is an accomplished artist and joins us with a special focus on the needs of the poor and the infirmed. Deacon Watkins currently serves as a member of the faculty and staff at St. Thomas More Academy and as Director of Institutional Advancement. |

{mosimage}Greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ. Welcome to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish. If you are visiting or returning, welcome and Peace be with You! I hope that you will find St. Catherine of Siena parish, first and foremost a place to pray and to fall in love with Our Lord Jesus Christ. If you like to pray alone, you will find welcomed silence in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel and if you like to pray with others, you will find many devotional groups who will welcome you into their prayer. It is my greatest hope that you will find your deepest prayer in the celebration of Holy Mass where we gather together each day to perpetuate the Lord's Sacrifice and continue his redeeming work through the Eucharist. Our patroness, St. Catherine of Siena said; "If you are who you should be, you will set the world ablaze". It is my prayer that you will discover and rediscover who God calls you to be.
