Apostolates
steliz_sm.jpg The term "Apostolate(s)" refers to how we are "sent" to do the work of the Church. The Early Church engaged in the care of the widow and the orphan, the care of the sick, the care of the poor, the visiting of those imprisoned and the feeding of the hungry. All apostolic work flows from and remains united to Christ's sacrifice. Far from "my ministry" it is always corporal, the work of the body, forever linked to Christ and His Apostles.

  • Apostolates of Divine Worship  ( 10 items )
For it was from the side of Christ as he slept the sleep of death upon the cross that there came forth 'the wondrous sacrament of the whole Church.' For this reason, the Church celebrates in the liturgy above all the Paschal mystery by which Christ accomplished the work of our salvation.

It is this mystery of Christ that the Church proclaims and celebrates in her liturgy so that the faithful may live from it and bear witness to it in the world:
For it is in the liturgy, especially in the divine sacrifice of the Eucharist, that "the work of our redemption is accomplished," and it is through the liturgy especially that the faithful are enabled to express in their lives and manifest to others the mystery of Christ and the real nature of the true Church.

  • Apostolates of Prayer  ( 7 items )
"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer. "Man is a beggar before God."
For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy. (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

[T]he Christian communities to which the individual families belong or in which the children are living, havea duty towards the children baptized in their Church. A Christian community which bears witness to the Gospel lives out its fraternal charity, and actively celebrates the mysteries of Christ, is for the children that live there the best school of Christian and liturgical education.
